iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

As UK3 Mobile predicted, the wait is now over for the Iphone 6! This year, the anticipation for the release of Apples next generation technology was fever pitched! Even more so than previous years, the Apple fans had already started queuing up outside of Apple stores 10 days before the Apple devices had even been announced!

These enthusiastic fans still have quite a few days before they can get their paws on these devices but, at least they now know what they will be able to get their hands soon!

Apple had considered the event to be one of the most important announcements since the original iPhone was released and UK3Mobile think they weren’t wrong!

Hoping for one but we get two!

Once again Apple has released not one but two next generation iPhones, the eagerly awaiting and newly redesigned iPhone 6 and the biggest iPhone device yet, the iPhone 6 Plus.

As Apple promised, the iPhone has had a major revision along with an entire new design.

The screen

The iPhone 6 offers a 12 cm (4.7inch) display, a big increase from the iPhone 5S which itself was a major increase over the iPhone 4S and 5C’s 4 inch screen, while the iPhone 6 Plus will be almost an 2.5 cm (1 inch) bigger with a 14cm (5.5inch) display. The biggest iPhone yet and hot on the heels of the recent Samsung offerings.

The next generation iPhone also packs in the pixels with 1134 x 750 resolutions. The iPhone 6 Plus has a mighty impressive 1920 x 1080, a PPI of 401 which accounts to an incredible 2 million pixels! Just 5 years ago, this type of resolution was only available in high-end desktop screens.

The screen is ion strengthened opposed to the sapphire crystal glass that was rumored. It may not be indestructible but it is still a tougher screen.

The iPhone 6 design

The first aspect that hits you when you behold the Iphone 6 is that Apple has done away with the squared edges, with us since the iPhone 4. The iPhone 6 now has a rounded, smoother body not similar to the older 3gs.

In some way, Apple has also managed to do the inconceivable and cut down the thickness to 6.9mm, a lot slimmer when compared to the 7.6mm iPhone 5S. This makes the iPhone 6 “in-hand” feel a lot less cumbersome.

Processing Power

The already impressive iPhone 6 comes with the upgraded A8 processor. Apple states this is 25% faster than the 1.3GHz dual-core A7 chip used in its previous legacy phone the 5S.

iPhone 6 Camera

Apple has kept the 8MP camera from the 5S, but has made a few tweaks making it the best iPhone camera yet. We can’t complain because the 5S camera is sublime.

The camera now has bigger pixels, along with an f/2.2 aperture and dual-LED flash for more reasonable color reproduction.

iPhone 6 Storage

The iPhone 6 has also had a memory upgrade, with a massive 128GB of storage space. As rumors suggested, Apple hasn’t ditched the 16GB memory version; however there isn’t a 32GB device iPhone 6.

iPhone 6 Battery life

The new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus has a better battery life than the iPhone 5S in just about every aspect, including music playback, internet browsing and video streaming. The iPhone 6 supports 50 hours music playback (10 hours more than the iPhone 5S), 11 hours video and 11 hours WiFi browsing (both an hour more than the iPhone 5S). The bigger iPhone 6 Plus comes with an even bigger battery supporting 80 hours music playback, 14 hours video and 12 hours of WiFi browsing.

iPhone 6 Mobile payment system

Touch ID home button is smarter and combined with NFC; you can now use both new iPhone 6 devices to make contactless payments using your Touch ID fingerprint. Unfortunately this feature is only available in the United States for now, but it is supported by American Express, Mastercard and Visa and should be available in the UK by Christmas 2014.

iPhone Availability and Cost

The new iPhone 6 devices will be available in shops from the 19th September (pre-order from the 12th September) and the iPhone 6 prices are as follows:

iPhone 6 Prices

iPhone 6 Plus Prices

The Apple Watch

Apple Watch

The highly anticipated Apple Watch (oddly not called iWatch) is also now available! And can tell the time very accurately (within 50 milliseconds).

The Apple Watch comes with a range of convenient features such as Siri and subtle notifications which only show up when you look at your watch.

Apple has stated that there will be 6 different watch bands available, ranging from Rubber to Leather to classy Metal. The watch will come in two sizes and you can choose from three models – the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport (which has a stronger case) and the Apple Watch 18K Gold Edition.

The Apple Watch seems to be geared up around health and it will allow you to measure and share your heart rate.

Of course, the Apple Watch requires an iPhone 5 or above to work and is available from early next year 2015, starting at £220.
